THE THEATRES OF THE PERIOD:

Wooden playhouses Elizabethan buildings were simple, open, with a stage that jutted out in front, around which the audience went down, standing up. At the bottom there were two doors by which the actors came and went. Above, a balcony, which was used when it became needed show a scene that was passed in a secondary setting. There was no scenery, which opened a range of versatile options, since no curtain, the play began when the first actor came in and finished off the last, and simple objects and pieces of clothing have important roles to find the story. The shares passed very fast. Because of the proximity with the public, grimaces and expressions of the actors could easily be appreciated. The troupes were formed by 10 to 15 members and operated as cooperatives, all received bonuses. And writing is so, bearing in mind each member of the company.

In 1594, Shakespeare had written the three parts of Henry VI, Richard III, Titus Andronicus, The Two Gentleman of Verona, Love's Labour's Lost, The Comedy of Error's and The Taming of the Shrew. In 1596, he died the only son of Shakespeare, Hamnet. Logo then he wrote the first of his most famous plays, Romeo and Juliet, which was followed by A Midsummer Night's Dream, Richard II and The Merchant of Venice.Henry IV in which Falstaff appears, his most famous comic character, was written between 1597-1598 in the Christmas of 1598, the company built a new playhouse on the south bank of the Thames. The costs were divided by the directors of the company, including Shekespeare, who probably had his fortune. The Globe Theatre was born. Also in 1598 the recognition as more important Shakespeare English language playwright, his plays, besides attracting thousands of viewers to the theaters of wood, were printed and sold in the form of book-sometimes even pirated. This was followed by Henry V. As You Like It, Jules Cesar - the first of his tragedies at maturity - Troilus and Cressida, The Wives of Windsor Marry, Hamlet and Twelfth Night. Shakespeare wrote most of the main roles of his tragedies to Richard Burbage, partner and author, who first distinguished himself with Richard III.

In March 1603, Queen Elizabeth died. The company had staged several plays for her, but his successor, King James, hired her permanently, she throne is known as the King's Men. They staged several times in court and prospered financially. This was followed by All's Well That Ends Well and Measure for Measure - their darkest comedies - Macbeth Othello, King Lear, Antony and Cleopatra and Coriolanus.

From 1601, Shakespeare wrote less. In 1608, The King's Men acquired a second playhouse, a private theater and closed in Blackfriars. In these private theaters, the plays were staged indoors, the ticket cost more than houses of public entertainment, and the public, therefore, was more select.

It seems to have been at this time that Shakespeare retired from the stage: Your name will not appear on the lists of actors from 1607.Voltou living in Stratford, where he was considered one of the most illustrious citizens. He then wrote four tragicomedies, subgenre that began to gain ground: Pericles, Cymbeline, The Winter's Tale and The Tempest, and the latter was staged at court in 1611. Shakespeare died in Stratford on April 23, 1616. He was buried at the church reserved for clergy. Wrote to all 38 plays, 154 sonnets and a variety of other poems. His pieces stand out for the greatness of poetic language, the philosophical depth and characterization of complex characters. It is unanimously considered one of the most important authors of all time.
